In the Great Lakes tournament, champions from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio compete for the right to advance to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Wisconsin previously competed in the Great Lakes Region tournament, but was reassigned to the Midwest Region beginning with the 2022 international tournament.
Prior to 2017, both the Great Lakes and the Midwest Region tournaments were held at Little League's Reuben F. Glick Little League Center on the East side of Indianapolis, which was then the site of the organization's Central Region headquarters. Following a short period at a temporary facility, the tournament is now held at the newly constructed Central Region headquarters in Whitestown, Indiana.
