Ewa scored three runs on successive wild pitches in the bottom of the sixth inning to upend Pearl City and win the Hawaii state tournament for the second consecutive year.
The win was Ewa's fourth straight at Walter Victor Stadium on the Big Island. Ewa's four wins came by a combined five run margin of victory, as the club defeated Central Maui 4-2 in the opening round, then advanced to the championship with a pair of one-run wins. Ewa defeated West Coast Hawaii 5-4 before edging Pearl City 2-1 in the winner's bracket finals.
Pake Coloma was the winning pitcher in the championship game for Ewa. He also had two hits and drove in a run. Pearl City's Carl Grabes was 2-for-4 at the plate.
Ewa advanced to the West Region tournament in San Bernardino, CA following their state tournament win, and finished pool competition with a 1-3 record.
