Summary:

Waipio Little League swept to three consecutive victories, including a 9-3 win over Central East Maui Little League in the championship game, to win the Hawaii state tournament at Waimea Field on the Big Island.

With the wins, Waipio claimed its first state championship in the major baseball division since 2010, and its seventh overall.

Central East Maui finished as the Hawaii runner-up for the second consecutive year. The Maui league reached the state championship game for the sixth time in a seven-year span.

Waipio opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Honolulu Little League, as pitcher Vincent Ogasawara outdueled Honolulu hurler Randy Wong. Louis Holt drove in a run for Waipio, while Cayden Okade doubled.

The next day, Vance Oshiro and Trey Ana-Purcell each had two hits as Waipio topped Kaneohe Little League, 5-3, in the winner's bracket final.

Central East Maui worked its way through the bottom bracket to earn a championship game berth opposite Waipio by winning three consecutive games following an opening round loss. The Maui team scored double-digit runs in each of these wins, beginning with a 10-0 victory over Honolulu. They then eliminated Hilo Little League, 17-2, and ousted Kaneohe, 12-7.

Isaiah Souza and Lee Souza each homered against Hilo, while Jarrett Harper and Dawson Tokishi each collected three hits in the win over Kaneohe.

Waipio advanced to the West Region tournament in San Bernardino, California, following its state championship, where the Hawaii champions won three of their initial four games before falling, 12-10, to Sweetwater Valley Little League (Bonita, Southern California) in the championship game.
