Summary:

Ninth-place hitter David McAfee belted a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally Baxter Springs past Hugoton in the first game, and pitcher Bradley Smith fired a two-hitter the next day to give Baxter Springs its eighth consecutive Kansas state title.

In game one, Baxter pitcher Drew Hartley allowed only three hits, but Hugoton packaged two of those hits with three walks and a hit batsman to score five runs in the second inning before Baxter rallied for the win. Baxter used a pair of homers to win game two: Jared Montford connected for a two-run shot in the third, and Kyle Crofts' three-run homer opened the scoring in a four-run fourth inning.

It was the sixth consecutive year in which Baxter Springs defeated Hugoton Southwest Kansas in the best 2-of-3 state tournament series.
