Baxter Springs throttled the defending state champions to earn its first state title in three years. In the opener, Baxter pounded out 10 hits, including Brett Hartley's three-run homer, and rode the five-hit pitching of Brian Qualls to victory. The next day, Brett Bough surrendered only four hits, while Baxter collected twelve -- including four by Lucas Cheney.
