Each district had the option of advancing a single district champion to the opening round of sectional tournament competition, or instead could combine entrants with a geographically adjacent district, and advance a champion from a combined district tournament to the district finals. Districts 10 and 37 elected to advance individual district champions to sectional competition. These teams met in a North Division sub-sectional playoff. Districts 11 and 12 held a combined district tournament, with the winner advancing to the North Division finals opposite the District 10-37 sub-sectional winner.
