Wisconsin's first state champion wasn't from Wisconsin, but was the most successful league ever to emerge from the Wisconsin tournament structure. Upper Peninsula leagues competed in the Wisconsin tournament through the mid-1970s, and the Escanaba JC Little League won Wisconsin, Division 1, and North Region tournament to qualify for the Little League World Series.
Leagues from Green Bay and Superior quickly claimed titles of their own, with the Green Bay Southwest Kiwanis defeating Rhinelander Hodag 7-5 in Wisconsin's first extra inning championship game.
