Summary:
Toronto's High Park Little League defeated three opponents by a 41-11 margin, and swept to the championship in the Ontario provincial tournament at Oakville Little League's Cornwall Road Park.
High Park, which received a first-round bye in the tournament, topped Brockville Little League, 16-2, then defeated the tournament host by a 12-7 in the winner's bracket final.
After Oakville earned a rematch following a 17-0 victory over Port Arthur National Little League in the elimination bracket final, High Park won its second game over Oakville. The 13-2 championship game victory gave High Park its 23rd provincial championship, and its fourth in a five year span.
The previous year, High Park had defeated East Nepean Little League, 4-0, in the Ontario championship game.
East Nepean was not competing in the provincial tournament as it was the host of the 2015 Canadian championship tournament. They and High Park both finished round robin competition at the regional as part of a three-way tie for first place with 5-1 records. High Park had won the direct meeting between the two Ontario teams with a 14-4 decision on the tournament's sixth day, but the two teams split their pool meetings with British Columbia powerhouse and eventual Canadian champion White Rock South Surrey Little League. East Nepean upended White Rock, 6-5, on the tournament's second day, while High Park fell to the British Columbia team, 9-8, on the final day of round robin play.
The round robin results set up a second meeting between East Nepean and High Park in the semifinal round, and East Nepean edged their Ontario counterparts, 2-1, to advance to the championship game. White Rock South Surrey claimed the Canadian title with a 16-0, five inning victory over East Nepean in the championship game.
